The Pennsylvania Forestry Association
(PFA) is the nation's oldest state organization devoted to forest
conservation. Founded in 1886, it is an association of individuals,
landowners, loggers, forest industries, resource professionals and businesses
that are concerned about the stewardship of Pennsylvania's forest resources.
The Pennsylvania Forestry Association is a non-profit association
whose efforts have been directed toward sustaining the rich forests
that are so much a part of the Commonwealth. People like you have made this happen.
Their interest, their support, and dedication to helping others understand
the importance of well-managed forests have made Penn's Woods the
viable resource that has sustained the rich and diverse uses of woodlands.
Almost 60 percent of Pennsylvania is forestland, a valuable resource providing opportunities for hiking, hunting, and camping. The forests are essential to our wildlife, providing through their various stages of growth the food and shelter that gives us a wonderfully diverse population of animals and birds. They play an important role in keeping our air and water clean. Pennsylvania’s hardwood forests produce some of the finest cherry and red oak logs, sought all over the world for the manufacture of valuable, beautiful veneers and furniture.
The key to successfully meeting these
many demands is understanding what good forest management is all about.
At the heart of this is education, a primary role of The Pennsylvania
Forestry Association.
